Usak lies in Turkey. A long tradition of carpet production marks the city, which for some centuries has been manufacturing high quality carpets. There are many different types of Usak carpets. In 17th century there are already more than 10. Many of the Usak carpets were made for mosques.
There are completely different patterns and designs. Amongst others, there are for instance the star pattern, which was used for large sized carpets. It was probably affected by Persian locket carpets, since in its center mostly a large star shaped locket sits. However there are Usak carpets, whose locket appears not star shaped, but in curvilinear forms. The influence of Persian carpet traditions is in later centuries not to be underestimated.
