Azerbaijan is located in the Caucasus and has a long-standing tradition of rug production. In general, four main types of rugs are distinguished within this eastern Caucasus country. These four types reflect the regions in which they are produced. Rugs from Azerbaijan are of high quality and are hand-knotted.
Rugs from Azerbaijan are part of a rich cultural heritage. They are not only utilitarian objects but also works of art, already mentioned by ancient authors. Their colors are traditionally Persian, featuring many red, sandy, and blue tones. However, a wide range of other hues is often incorporated, giving the rugs an almost colorful appearance. Depending on the type, they are available in nearly every size imaginable. Some rugs exceed six meters in length, making them ideal for very large rooms or long hallways.
